Adding to the roster of menswear showrooms quickly putting the 824 Building on the map is The Sundeck, a 2,000-square-foot space that boasts a masculine “SoCal” vibe, an oversize bar and an outdoor deck overlooking Los Angeles’ Fashion District. “We’re one of only two showrooms in Los Angeles with a balcony,” said Brian Bentti, the showroom’s coowner. “It’s a great perk, and we like to take advantage of it.” Located just a few doors down from the Cooper Design Space and across the street from the Lady Liberty building, the sunny space houses three menswear brands: Fred Perry, Jet Lag and Topo Ranch.

Fred Perry, the iconic tennis brand with street credibility, sells its apparel, shoes and accessories at The Sundeck. Wholesale prices for the collection range from $32 for a polo shirt to $85 for a lightweight jacket. Jet Lag, a bottoms collection, includes denim, twill bottoms, cargo shorts and cargo pants that sell well at specialty retailers and high-end department stores. Wholesale prices for Jet Lag range from $47.50 for twill pants to $99 for denim. Complementing Jet Lag is Topo Ranch, an environmentally conscious tops collection that ranges from understated but quirky organic T-shirts to Western-style woven shirts and fleece jackets. Topo Ranch woven shirts start at $39, and fleece pieces hover around $62.

“The three lines work well together and independently of each other. What they have in common is good design and excellent quality,” said Bentti, a Texas transplant who cut his teeth on the Southern California menswear scene. Formerly a sales manager for Diesel’s 55 DSL brand, Bentti last worked at Z Brand. To launch The Sundeck, Bentti partnered with Darren Crawford and Joe Huff, owners of Ramp Logistics, a Los Alamitos, Calif.–based apparel-distribution company. —Erin Barajas
