Wengrod Named Chairman of FBI Board

Ken Wengrod, president and founder of FTC Commercial Corp., has been elected as the first-ever chairman of the board of directors of Fashion Business Inc.

The 9-year-old incubator agency has had a board of directors for years but never a chairman.

“We’ve never found the right person for this position. Ken is the right person and a willing volunteer,” said FBI Executive Director Frances Harder, who founded the nonprofit in 1999 to provide education, training and technology resources for entrepreneurs and workers within the apparel and textile industries.

As the organization reaches its decade mark, Wengrod will be working with Harder on helping the agency reach the next level of growth. Two upcoming projects include the implementation of a $115,000 grant from Microsoft Corp. and the opening of a New York office next year.

“We’re expanding into more online and mobile training, creating sponsored international trade-show opportunities and building valuable resource and corporate-partner relationships,” Harder said.“With Ken’s board leadership along with the rest of the board’s wide range of industry expertise, we’re more confident than ever we’ll reach our goals.”

Wengrod heads Los Angeles–based FTC Commercial Corp., a factoring company that finances public and private companies dealing in consumer products. The company’s clients include some of the largest denim, contemporary apparel and beauty companies in the industry. Also joining Wengrod on the board recently was Shahin Kohan, chief executive officer of Focal Technology Solutions Inc.
