White Laundry Collection

With the Fall 2008 collection, Githa Duncker, creative director of Los Angeles–based White Laundry, brings a popular United Kingdom brand to the U.S. market. Launched last fall by parent company Maui and Sons, White Laundry has strong distribution in the United Kingdom and South America, and expectations are high for the U.S. launch. In addition to the American launch, White Laundry has plans to open a boutique in the United Kingdom this year.

“White Laundry follows runway and street trends rather than lingerie trends, and this allows for the collection to fit in with outerwear garments, which works well for peek-a-boo bra straps or cup edges,” Duncker said.

The fashion-forward lingerie collection includes a comprehensive selection of lined and unlined bras, camis, corsets, corset camis, sleep dresses, hot shorts, thongs and g-strings, all of which undergo a thorough fitting process.

The line is organized through three capsule collections, with each individual capsule collection sharing a similar color story so that customers can mix and match tops and bottoms within any capsule.

“The collection is print-driven, with a focus on bold jewel tones rather than pastels,” Duncker said.

Best-selling pieces from the Spring ’08 collection that will be carried over to Fall ’08 show off the line’s unique embellishments such as removable, nickel-free, hypoallergenic charms and pendants. The “Geisha” group includes an emerald pin-tucked bra and panty collection with crystal jewel teardrops. The “Midnight Garden” capsule includes amethyst sheer lace pieces with tonal Swarovski rhinestones.

The Fall ’08 collection will include a metallic Chantilly lace capsule in silver and gold and a new collection of prints “ranging from Pop to Victorian” with a modern approach, as well as the signature sheer mesh collection with White Laundry embroidery.

White Laundry is manufactured in European-owned factories in China and Hong Kong. Mesh, microfiber and Chantilly lace fabrics are sourced from Spain and Italy, and bra linings are imported from France.

White Laundry will exhibit at the upcoming Lingerie Americas shows in New York and Las Vegas. Retail prices are as follows: bras range from $45 to $80, panties range from $16 to $35, camisoles are $28 and up, and chemises are $38 and up.
