Trashy Lingerie Launches Wholesale Division

Los Angeles–based retailer Trashy Lingerie’s made-to-order lingerie and costume designs have been seen in hundreds of movies, TV shows and commercials. Since the 1980s, Trashy Lingerie has supplied exclusive and one-of-a kind costumes for attendees of Playboy’s famous Halloween and “Midsummer Night’s Dream” parties. The cotton-candy pink Playboy-bunny costume that Reese Witherspoon wore in “Legally Blonde” was made by Trashy Lingerie, according to Randy Shrier, vice president of Trashy Lingerie and president of the company’s Web site, Trashy.com.

This year, one of Hollywood’s top costume lingerie resources will be available for stores to purchase wholesale, with the launch of Costumes by Trashy Lingerie. The company plans to debut the new line of 30 limited-edition costumes during the March 16–19 run of the Halloween, Costume and Party trade show in Las Vegas.

“A lot of boutique and high-end lingerie stores don’t carry costumes because there aren’t costumes at that [same] level of quality” as the high-end lingerie sold at those stores, said Shrier. “We want to bring that crossover.”

The Costumes by Trashy Lingerie line will retail between $100 and $300 and will be manufactured with the same fabrics, trims and notions as the company’s original costume line. The wholesale line will kick off with some of the most popular costume themes such as pinup, military, nurses, maids, schoolgirl, the Renaissance and Marie Antoinette, all of which include accessories such as thongs and stockings.

The costume line is just the beginning. Shrier said Trashy Lingerie plans to gradually offer styles from its lingerie archives, which will be available for wholesale. —Rhea Cortado
