Street Closures After Hours During Market

Filming of the upcoming DreamWorks movie “Eagle Eye,” starring Billy Bob Thornton, Michael Chiklis and Rosario Dawson, will close several streets around the Los Angeles Fashion District on Jan. 11 and 14.

The closures are not expected to cause any major disruptions of the Jan. 11–15 run of Los Angeles Fashion Market. Filming will run after business hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday and Monday.

The production company had wanted longer hours to film, but Kent Smith, executive director of the L.A. Fashion District Business Improvement District, successfully negotiated with city officials for later hours to avoid traffic problems around the buildings in the “Intersection” (Los Angeles and Ninth streets).

Streets to be closed during those hours include Olympic Boulevard between Los Angeles and Olive Streets; Main Street, between Ninth and 11th streets; Broadway, between Ninth and 12th streets; 11th Street, between Main and Hill; and Hill Street, between Ninth and Olympic.

As a result of the filming schedule, the opening-night party in the California MarketCenter’s Atrium on Jan. 11 has been rescheduled to 5:30 to 7 p.m. The Olympic garage will close at 7:30 p.m. on those nights, and the Main Street garage will close at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 11. Hotel shuttles will end at 7:45 p.m. —Robert McAllister
