Vintage Boutique Opens Pop-Up Store

The Way We Wore is one of Los Angeles’ leading vintage-fashion boutiques. When word spread about the high-end vintage after its 2004 debut, designers for labels such as Zac Posen and Tory Burch began visiting the store at 334 S. La Brea Blvd. for inspiration.

One reason for their interest was that owner Doris Raymond made it a point to only sell garments in mint condition.

But her quest for perfection had consequences. To find the best, she had to buy large lots of vintage apparel and sift through huge collections of clothes. Her warehouse is bursting with women’s garments she judged to be in good condition but not stellar enough to be on her sales floor. There are also racks of garments produced after 1985.

On Jan. 11, Raymond will clean out her celebrated store’s proverbial attic by opening the Way We Wore Pop-Up store. She will sell at a discount some of the vintage and not-so-vintage stock that did not make it to her main boutique.

The pop-up shop is a 1,600-square-foot space located at 7264 Melrose Ave. (The cross street is Alta Vista.) Retail price points will range from $3 to $100. The store will close May 15. Before that date, she also promised to add men’s and children’s vintage to the pop-up store’s mix. —Andrew Asch
