Charlotte's New Chief

Retailer Charlotte Russe Holding Inc. has a new guy at the top, even if it’s only temporary. Leonard Mogil, who has been on the San Diego–based chain’s board since 2001, will take over for Mark Hoffman, who is retiring from the chief executive spot. The company is searching for a permanent replacement. Mogil’s background includes working at Phillips–Van Heusen Corp. as group executive vice president until his retirement in 2001. Even though this is a temporary job, Mogil will have some work to do. The company announced that same-store sales for the third quarter of fiscal 2008 were down 6.5 percent. Also, third-quarter earnings dipped to $6.6 million from $10.1 million a year ago.
