California Designers Win CFDA Awards

California proved to be the place with the hottest young talent at the Council of Fashion Designers Association Fashion Awards on June 2 at the New York Public Library.

Two of the three Swarovski awards for emerging talent were presented to California-based brands. Scott Sternberg won the Swarovski award for emerging talent in the menswear division for his work on Band of Outsiders.

Sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy won the Swarovski award for emerging talent in the womenswear category for their brand, Rodarte.

Calvin Klein Collection’s Francisco Costa won the womenswear designer of the year award. Tom Ford took home the menswear designer of the year award. Tory Burch won the accessories designer of the year award. Jewelry designer Philip Crangi won the Swarovski award for accessory design. —Erin Barajas
