GlobalTex Names First Members of West Coast Team

The organizers of GlobalTex, the biannual textile show that debuts in Los Angeles next year, have two new people on their West Coast team to help put together the event.

Heather Wurst, who worked for the California Market Center for eight years and helped organize special events such as the long-standing Los Angeles International Textile Show, has been appointed West Coast director of sales. Wurst will be responsible for the leasing efforts of the textile show.

Jo Ann Worthington, who was director of sales for Los Angeles for GES Exposition Services and was vice president of regional sales for LA Inc., the Los Angeles Conventionand Visitors Bureau, will be GlobalTex’s West Coast director of operations.

“We are thrilled to have Heather and Jo Ann on the ground in Los Angeles to help lead the way for GlobalTex,” said Bill Winsor, president and chief executive of Market Center Management Co., which is launching the textile show. The company also operates the Dallas Market Center.

The first GlobalTex show will be held April 28–30, 2009, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and the second show is planned for Oct. 13–15, 2009.

This is the second new textile show slated for Los Angeles next year. Urban Expositions, the Atlanta-area organizer of Material World Miami Beach, will launch Material World West Sept. 30–Oct. 2, 2009. It, too, will be at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The shows will be competing with the long-standing Los Angeles International Textile Show, held twice a year at the California Market Center. The CMC’s next textile show is Oct. 27–29, 2008. —Deborah Belgum
