L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: Jenny Han
Jenny Han peered into her shiny disco ball for her Fall ’08 collection and came up with a flirty and feminine nod to the ’70s, which was seen during her March 12 fashion show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif.
Han wasn’t even around in the ’70s, but she gleaned a take that provided for some subtle yet classy designs from the iconic era.
She used lots of silk satin fabrics and Moroccan and exaggerated paisley prints over blouses, jumpers and pin-tucked dresses. Pieces were detailed with ribbon ties and ruffles.
It wasn’t all about disco. Han sees layering to be an important part of Fall and added oversize sweaters with loose cowls that were also part of the presentation. Short silk dresses with woodblock-type landscape prints and structured tweed suitings with high-waist skirts were also part of the looks. —Robert McAllister
