L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: UNIF

With a vintage muscle car on the runway and a collection of printed T-shirts and skinny acid-wash jeans for guys and girls, UNIF (short for “Ur Not in Fashion”) made its Los Angeles Fashion Week runway debut on March 14 at Boxeight in Los Angeles.Designed by Eric Espinoza, the line referenced Los Angeles old-school “cholo” style, including T-shirts printed to look like plaid shirts buttoned at the neck and open across the torso and Espinoza’s own take on the Oakland Raiders logo.

Girls, styled to look like East Los Angeles pinups, modeled short shorts paired with muscle tanks, high-waist jeans coated with strips of rubber, and skintight acid-wash overalls. Guys got UNIF-branded T-shirts, black-and-gray letterman jackets, and plaid shirts washed to look distressed and dirty.—Erin Barajas
