L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: Christian Audigier

Christian Audigier rarely goes for the subtle maneuver, preferring to bulldoze the competition with a full-front attack—and his Los Angeles Fashion Week showing was no exception.

Held over the course of three nights at Los Angeles lifestyle center The Grove, Audigier hosted two open-to-the-public shows, on March 11 and 12, and a third show for celebrities and press on March 13.

“I have seven collections,” Audigier said. “I need space to explain my vision.”

Held rooftop, the finale show featured a panoramic view of Hollywood, celebrity guests, including Mena Suvari and Bow Wow, and catered Brazilian fare from Pampas Brazilian Grill.

Titled “One World,” the runway show featured six of Audigier’s collections—Christian Audigier, Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, Smet, Crystal Rock, Paco Chicano, C–A and Chuck Boyd.

For women, the look was geisha pinup, with models wearing Technicolor-print graphics in flirty girlie-girl shapes. Shrunken leather jackets and hoodies topped graphic tees and candy-colored tutus. A series of silk-screened and foil-printed mini-dresses featured plunging necklines and sky-high hemlines. Men sported “A Clockwork Orange” bowler hats and paired graphic-print tees with skinny jeans and pin-striped pants, vests and slim-silhouette blazers. In addition, there were plenty of more-casual looks including graphic tees and hoodies and embellished denim. The show closed with Audigier’s new swim collection for Ed Hardy.
