L.A. Fashion Week Fall '08: Sue Wong

Sue Wong’s elaborately beaded gowns, flirty flapper styles and exotic chinoiserie pieces were perfectly coordinated with her home in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood, where she held her Los Angeles Fashion Week presentation on March 14.

Wong’s designs were displayed on models who walked about the party and on mannequins installed throughout the home. A ruched gown in gray and cregrave;me traced a deep V down the front in beading. A strapless gown was embellished with beads in a moderne pattern that recalled the Chrysler Building. And a sweet blouson-style dress featured a beaded floral pattern and satin trim.

The party (see related story here) was co-hosted by IDG World Expo, which announced plans to kick off a biannual fashion event called Reveal L.A. in Los Angeles in 2009. (IDG is a producer of trade shows and consumer events, including the Macworld Conference & Expo, E3 Media & Business Summit, Entertainment For All, GreenXchange Xpo, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo and Next Generation Data Center.) The event—which will be held at the California Market Center, L.A. Live and other downtown venues—will include a designer marketplace, fashion presentations and other events to spotlight Los Angeles’ design community. —Alison A. Nieder
