Sun Capital Partners Inc., a private investment firm, said it has made an investment in Frontier Spinning Mills Inc. in Sanford, N.C. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Frontier Spinning, founded in 1996, makes cotton and polyester/cotton blend yarns for the knitting and weaving industries. George Perkins Jr., chief executive and chairman of the yarn company, said the investment will help the company expand its geographic footprint. This February, Sun Capital Securities Group, an affiliate of Sun Capital, acquired Kellwood Co., a large apparel maker near St. Louis, for $542 million.
