Store Founder Dies

Stuart Moldaw, who launched the Ross Dress for Less stores in 1982, died on May 24 after a short illness. He was 81. Moldaw was active with the Pleasanton-based discount-store chain, serving most recently as chairman emeritus. He was chairman of the board from August 1982 to March 1993. Moldaw started his first company in 1958 and was a founding investor of The Gymboree Corp. He had more than 50 years of retail experience.
