MAGIC Heats Up With Swim

Las Vegas is always steamy in August, and it was even hotter when swimwear hit the runway at the MAGIC Marketplace.

The WWDMAGIC and International Swimwear/Activewear Market (ISAM) fashion show titled “Heat” was a highlight on the runway during the Aug. 25–27 run of the marketplace.

A range of brands presented key looks for Spring, including Gottex, Gideon Oberson, Jantzen, B Swim, Sauvage, Cyn & Luca, Pistol Pete, Luli Fama, Diva by Rachel Pappo, L*Space, Anne Cole, Sea Queen, Christian Audigier, Bikini Flavors, Guess Collection and Carmen Marc Valvo.

Styles ranged from retro fabulous to metallic gold and bohemian chic. Pinup girls worked cute gingham and polka-dots suits with high waists, eyelet trim and ruffles. A number of graphic prints and bright colors converged in a pop-art theme. Matching printed coverups and palazzo pants were perfect for any resort destination. Gold metallics inspired by the Olympics ranged from brilliant gold to bronze with foil treatments, embellishments and gold hardware for added drama. Bohemian, a perennial swim favorite, was updated with tie-dye and ombreacute; treatments, Ed Hardy–style tattoos and a number of paisley prints.

The classic black swimsuit was the grand finale. The look was full-on glam with every type of bling you can imagine—sequins, rhinestones and jewelry—perfect for any poolside fashionista. —N. Jayne Seward
