OptiTex Adds Color Manager to 3-D

OptiTex has upgraded its 3-D Runway Designer cloth-simulation software with a new color-management tool, enabling users to choose and change fabric colors in real time and view results immediately.

Previously, designers could neither see colors and how they matched nor convey them to others accurately, explained OptiTex Chief Executive Officer Ran Machtinger.

“Designers now have a much higher degree of color control over their collections,” he said. “Color Manager will appear anytime a user clicks on a color control, providing an extended set of tools that promote both creativity and collaboration.”

Users can also select a color scheme for individual garments or entire collections and provide the scheme to everyone involved in the design process, Machtinger said.

The color manager also supports four color spaces— RGB, HSV (hue, saturation, value/brightness), CMYK and HEX (hexadecimal)—as well as “harmonious color schemes” for work in monochromatic colors and “color banks” to enable designers to create, edit and store color schemes, facilitating collaboration among users and more efficient communication with other graphic software systems. —Robert McAllister
