New Resources Guide: Recession by Rock & Republic

Culver City, Calif.–based premium-denim brand Rock & Republic is known for its flash and rock-star excess vibe. But with the economic hard times gripping the nation, founder Michael Ball felt a change was in order. Recession, a new denim line for men and women launched for Spring 2009, will retail for significantly less than Rock & Recession’s core offerings. The Recession collection, which will sell alongside Rock & Republic’s core offerings in specialty stores and top-tier department stores, includes two silhouettes each for men and women and simple T-shirts. Men get a straight leg and a skinny; women get low-rise boot-cut and skinny jeans.

Ball said the brand will continue to cultivate its exclusive air, despite the introduction of a lower price point, by offering limited-edition cuts of Recession jeans.
