L.A. Fashion Weekend Featuring Post'Age, Raw 7 and Samora

Mikey Koffman typically produces runway events offering a lot of bands, dancers and, during one show, wild animals. In comparison, her March 20 fashion show could be called downright minimalist. With just models, DJs and seating for the attendees, she set the stage for Los Angeles labels Post’Age, Raw7 and Samora to show their Fall 2009 collections.

Post’Age debuted its first women’s collection at Koffman’s fashion show. The collection offered pigment-coated denim and slim—but not too skinnyshy;—jeans for the men. Post’Age founder Rich Yu also showed Supima cotton knits, military-style shirts and some plaids.

Raw7 presented 10 looks. Some showed a 1990s redux with three-quarter-length plaid pants, big white shirts and leather jackets. Other styles included layers of tops bearing artfully unraveled cloth, as well as high-end streetwear styles such as black waxed jeans and vintage denim.

Samora designer Summer Olayan shifted her inspirations east for the Fall 2009 collection. In past collections, her inspirations hailed from France and Spain, but for the most recent collection, costumes from Turkey informed her looks. Some models wore fez hats for the 19-look show, which featured gowns, crushed-velvet vests and mini-dresses, and jodhpur style pants. —Andrew Asch
