Nuuml;wa Launches High Tensile- and Tear-Strength Coating

Tustin, Calif.–based Nuuml;wa Textiles has launched Nuuml;Hyde, a patent-pending coating that improves yarns’ abrasion resistance to more than four times the industry standard, according to the company.

The coating is intended for use in luggage, backpacks, tents, tarps and high-wear areas of garments. Nuuml;Hyde can be used on nylon and polyester, including recycled nylon and recycled polyester. The coating causes the yarns to fuse, forming a barrier on the surface that improves the fabric’s strength and abrasion resistance.

SGS conducted an independent test using a 1,000-gram Taber wheel. Nuuml;Hyde withstood 5,600 cycles, compared with the industry standard of 1,200 cycles.
