Quiksilver Cuts 200 Jobs

Quiksilver, the Huntington Beach, Calif.–based surf giant, cut 200 positions from its Quiksilver Americas division. The move, which will affect all of the brands under the Americas umbrella, including its Roxy and DC Shoes labels, is part of ongoing reorganization efforts. The company’s Mira Loma, Calif.–based distribution warehouse will also be affected.

The layoffs are the second batch this year. In January, the company cut 150 positions and later promised investors that it would reduce expenses to the tune of $40 million to $60 million dollars.

The latest round of cuts, which was completed Nov. 5, affected 125 employees. The remaining 75 eliminated positions were positions that were vacant.—Erin Barajas
