Bravo Set to Launch New Fashion Competition

“Launch My Line,” Bravo's newest fashion reality-show competition is set to debut on Dec. 2, and there are plenty of familiar L.A. faces gracing its cast.

The show takes a new approach to what have become cookie-cutter fashion competitions and pairs 10 fashion designers with 10 professionals outside the fashion indy who are hoping to launch their own fashion. Apparently it isn't just fashion designers who dream of heading their own lines. Successful architects, even planners, choreographers and music producers do too.

Hosted by DSquared2's Dean and Dan Caten, the show will feature a challenge during each episode, at the end of which the 10 teams must present their garments on the runway in front of a live studio audience and a panel of judges that includes Los Angeles retailer Lisa Kline. Other local names: Single's Galina Sobolev, event planner Vanessa Gonzalez, fashion journalist Merle Ginsberg, Rhys Dwyfen's Julie Kwon, Akiko Cook and Coco Kliks, formerly based in L.A. and now working out of New York.

I recently had dinner with Galina and she very coyly demurred when I asked for insider details. “Watch what happens!” she said. I guess I'll have to.
