A Sequence of Sequins at Greta

On display at Greta was a lineup of New York-based Sachin + Babi's sequins-covered tops, jackets, pants and dresses.

Though Sachin + Babi for Ankasa hail from the Empire State, the brand’s ornate collar necklaces and sequins-saturated collection fit right in with Greta’s Beverly Hills sophisticated-lady clientele. Greta hosted a trunk show and cocktail party on Nov. 18 for Sachin + Babi for Ankasa—the clothing extension of husband and wife team Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia’s luxury home line, Ankasa.

Owner Greta Feigler has championed many designer labels throughout the career of her 48-year-old store on Beverly Drive. Today the shop houses a family of promising designers such as Sachin + Babi and the elegant Greta label, made in collaboration with a tailor who has worked with James Galanos. Many of Greta’s namesake designs (and the roster of famous women that she has dressed, which includes Kim Novak, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Barbara Sinatra, Shirley Fonda, Barbara Bain and Joanie Crosby) hark back to another era. In her long career, one of Feigler's favorite fashion moments was in her early days. “My very first buying trip to Europe was one of my first memories in my career. On this trip I met Jil Sander and Gianni Versace. Gianni was designing for Genny Byblos at the time, and I went to his runway show in Milan… This is when I knew fashion would be an inspiration on my life forever.”
