Exports at the Port of Los Angeles saw their strongest month this year when container shipments headed overseas in October increased nearly 12 percent over the same period last year. However, inbound cargo in October was down 8.3 percent. For the first 10 months of this year, the port saw 5.6 million 20-foot containers pass through the port, a 15.4 percent decline over 2008. At the Port of Long Beach, total container traffic was down 24.5 percent during the first 10 months of this year, totaling 4.15 million containers.
