Emerging Design Takes a Bow at the Glendale Galleria

The Glendale Galleria retail center is getting into the game of emerging design. On Nov. 13, the shopping center debuted Local Collection, a 2,800-square-foot store devoted to emerging designers working in Southern California.

Local Collection is owned by Galleria landlord General Growth Properties Inc. If the store is deemed successful, the Chicago-based real estate investment trust might open similar stores in some of the 200 other properties it owns or manages in 44 states, said Janet LaFevre, the Galleria’s senior marketing director.

Designers will sell their wares on consignment at the store, located in the Galleria’s Nordstrom wing. There will be 30 fashion, jewelry and homeware designers at the new boutique. They include Los Angeles–based fashion lines Chameleon Apparel, Beata Dirycz and Graf & Lantz.

A jury of General Growth executives picked designers to show in the store. Designers interested in selling at Local Collection are encouraged to contact LaFevre at janet.lafevre@ggp.com.—Andrew Asch
