GlobalTex Launches Three-Day Show
The fabric trend trees at GlobalTex add a soft light and valuable information to the show
Round two of GlobalTex, the international textile and sourcing fair, opened today at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
This is the second season for the well-crafted fabric and trend show that is competing with the Los Angeles International Textile Show held two weeks ago in conjunction with Material World West at the California Market Center.
Lighted trend trees that showcased fabric ideas for Spring/Summer 2010 brightened up the center area of the show floor while Michael Antonia, known as The Human Jukebox, was spinning the kinds of tunes you would normally hear at a fashion show. The vibe was very upbeat.
This season's GlobalTex, organized by Dallas-based Market Center Management Co., has quite a few internaitonal exhibitors, from the French companies inside Espace Textile to people like Remy Diallo of Mali Beauty, displaying some fantastic selections of bright African prints from his native Mali. This is his first textile show ever, he said.
Sarah Schwennsen, the design manager for retailer Torrid, was perusing the fabric trends organized by British trend forecaster Mudpie. She and a few of her colleagues were at the show to attend some of the seminars and visit print people. She was at the first GlobalTex show in Los Angeles in April and felt there were more textile companies represented this time around.
GlobalTex ends at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15.
