L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2010: Lauren Elaine

Lauren Elaine’s Black Label looked light and summery when it debuted Oct. 15 at Fashion at Broadway at the Los Angeles Theater.

But light dresses were not the only point designer Lauren Elaine was trying to get across with her black label.

She wanted to renew the “princess” look for current times. So along with the simple elegance of a hand-dyed dress with a bow, there were garments such as the “Buttercup” dress. It was a cotton poplin dress with exaggerated bell sleeves and bead detailing. Other princess dresses were highly detailed, such as the “Aphrodite” gown, which was constructed out of silk and silk chiffon fabrics with Swarovski crystal embellishments, ostrich feathering and braid detailing.—Andrew Asch
