BCBG Going Into the Perfume Business

The Tuilleries Gardens in Paris

When I think of the BCBGMaxAzria label, I think of a leisurely walk down the Champs Elysees Avenue, fashionable stores to the left and to the right of me.

So when it comes to a BCBGMaxAzria perfume, to debut next year, I think it would be wise to throw in some soft scents that remind you of a breezy afternoon in Paris, walking through the city's vast gardens such as the Tuilleries Gardens or the gigantic Buttes Chaumont Park.

BCBGMaxAzria just announced the company signed a licensing agreement with New Wave Fragrances to develop and make a BCBGMaxAzria fragrance for women that launches next March. "We are thrilled to be partnering with New Wave Fragrances," said Max Azria, who started the Los Angeles label in 1989.

Max follows in the footsteps of Christian Audigier, Kim Kardashian and True Religion, all who selected New Wave Fragrances, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to develop a perfume with their special scent.

Max's wife, Lubov Azria, will be collaborating with packaging designer Lance McGregor to develop the packaging for the fragrance. New Wave and the apparel label also will be working with master perfumers from Givaudan, an essential oil producer for fine fragrances, to come up with a unique scent. Maybe a walk down through the Tuilleries Gardens would help them
