Agenda Adds N.Y. Edition

Agenda, the Los Angeles–based boutique streetwear/action-sports trade show, will go east for the Spring 2011 menswear market. Agenda: NYC will debut July 19–20 at 190 Mercer St. in New York and will coincide with Capsule; Project New York; and the ENK New York trade shows Designers’ Collective, Blue, Clean and Tomorrow.

The East Coast edition of Agenda will feature approximately 60 streetwear-focused menswear brands, including LRG and The Hundreds, and some brands from China and Hong Kong.

“It’s a smaller, more intimate and focused show,” said Aaron Levant, president of Agenda. “Our Huntington Beach [Calif.] shows are more surf- and action sports–focused. The [concurrent] New York shows are very high-end and contemporary. Streetwear is the next level down as far as pricing and style. It’s a more natural transition, so it makes sense to focus on those brands.”

Booths for the show start at $3,000.

Agenda: NYC isn’t the first time Levant has produced an ancillary trade show. Five years ago, Levant hosted Stitch, an off-shoot of Agenda, for one season. “Agenda: NYC has been in the works for years,” he said. Brands and buyers, he added, have expressed interest in an East Coast Agenda show. “We’re not competing with anyone. Our price points and targets are totally different than Capsule or Project. If anything, I think we’ll be adding a new demographic, a different level, to the menswear shows.”—Erin Barajas
