F2 Runway Show Features Emerging Designers

Dresses that ranged from casual, futuristic knits to frivolous cocktail-party dresses were the standout looks from designers that participated in the F2 Runway Show. The show was held on Aug. 10 in the 13th-floor penthouse of the California Market Center during L.A. Fashion Market and featured young talent that exhibited at the Focus trade show. Brandon Barney, who graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle in 2002 and studied one semester study abroad at the prestigious Central Saint Martin school in London, showed his Modurrn collection of knit dresses that used color-blocking to add a sharp, futuristic slant to the overall feminine silhouettes.

Bakare mixed casual and tailored by pairing a T-shirt with a printed rigid miniskirt. Sylvia Chavez Braga’s pretty dresses looked like a vacation wardrobe, from a sheer ruffled floral dress that could be a beach coverup to a one-shoulder asymmetrical dress in iridescent royal purple to wear for a night out on the town.

Prima Jiva’s collection had an earthy touch through braided details and linen-like textures. Ostentatious necklaces by Ms. Bellezza Jewelry and hats by Designer Millinery by Diana Cavagnaro added drama to the show.—Rhea Cortado
