Sinatra Next From Dorfman Pacific

For Elvis Presley it was his pompadour and sideburns. For Michael Jackson it was a single, sparkly glove. For iconic pop singer Frank Sinatra, his trademark look was his fedora hat, and Dorfman Pacific, one of the world’s largest headwear companies, has a fedora line inspired by Sinatra’s look. The Sinatra collection debuts at the MAGIC Marketplace trade show in Las Vegas this month.

The Stockton, Calif.–based Dorfman Pacific made an agreement with Frank Sinatra Enterprises to create the line of broad-brimmed fedoras. It features details such as silk linings, grosgrain ribbon trim, classic hat pins and a touch of orange, reportedly Sinatra’s favorite color. Dorfman Pacific plans to place the collection in better department stores and specialty retailers for the Fall/Winter 2010 season. While the line bears Sinatra’s name, it also will keep an eye on contemporary fashions, said Douglas Highsmith, Dorfman Pacific’s president and chief executive.

“Dorfman Pacific will flawlessly design a collection that depicts Mr. Sinatra’s look and is right for today’s buyer,” Highsmith said.

The hat company found success with other entertainment licenses in the past. Among its lines are the Indiana Jones line, inspired by the Indiana Jones action-film character portrayed by Harrison Ford, and Blue Chair Bay by Kenny Chesney, a license from country singer Kenny Chesney.—Andrew Asch
