Miami Swim Week Cruise 2011: Melissa Odabash
Melissa Odabash is known for her chic collection of glamorous swimwear. And for the first time, the London-based designer presented her collection on the runway during Miami Swim Week at W South Beach.
“I just love the W hotel and it suits my brand so I thought, ’Where better than to do the show than at the W?’” explained the designer. “I love the interiors. I love everything. It fits my lifestyle,” she added.Indeed, the elegant hotel is a perfect match for the former model turned designer. Odabash is set to debut exclusive pieces for the upcoming W Vieques Global Glam Resort Collection.
Actress Lindsay Price and model/designer India Hicks turned out to see the collection that has become a favorite of celebs including Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker.
For the July 16 presentation, Odabash presented looks from her 10-year-old swimwear line as well as her ready-to-wear collection which she launched two years ago.The collection included vintage prints revamped in modern colors, chic caftans, breezy cotton dresses, soft pastel shades, vintage-inspired swimwear silhouettes and plenty of the designer’s trademark animal prints. “I tried to do a collection you can wear whether you’re in St. Tropez or in the Hamptons,” Odabash explained. “You don’t have to only be from Europe to wear my [designs], so I try to include a little bit for everybody,” she added. Odabash also included a few of her glamorous one-off creations including a finale suit that had plenty of bling. “Every year I design some one-off pieces, and they end up being my biggest sellers,” she said.
