Dress Denim: Levi's and Brooks Brothers Team Up for American-Made Jeans Brand

San Francisco–based Levi Strauss & Co. has teamed up with venerable suit maker Brooks Brothers for a new line of American-made denim, called Levi’s Jeans, Made in the USA for Brooks Brothers.

The new collection bowed on July 29 at Brooks Brothers stores, on the company’s website (www.brooksbrothers.com) and in the company’s catalogs.

Retail priced at $148, Levi’s Jeans, Made in the USA for Brooks Brothers includes several Levi’s styles, such as the button-fly 501 jean, the zip-fly 505 and the 514 “Slim Straight” jean. All will be available in a range of washes and all are made in Los Angeles.

The collaboration brings together two American brands founded in the 19th century. Brooks Brothers was founded in 1818 in New York and counts several “firsts” in its history, including the first retailer to offer ready-to-wear clothing, ready-made suits, the original button-down collar, seersucker, madras and the non-iron shirt. Founded in 1873, Levi’s is credited with inventing the blue jean and helping cement its place as a staple of American fashion.—Alison A. Nieder
