The Company Z

The Company Z showroom debuted in July, but it has its eye on the future.

By January, the showroom’s Gene Zuckerman will open in the adjacent suite 510, a space devoted to new Los Angeles–based denim and T-shirt line Ami James, the namesake label of tattoo artist and Miami Ink TV show star Ami James.

For the Spring 2011 Los Angeles Fashion Market, The Company Z owner Norma Zuckerman will debut San Diego–based line Tolani Collection and Los Angeles–based line Pink Rock, a division of Pink Polka Dot, run by Sharise Neil, the ex-wife of rocker Vince Neil. “It’s a celebrity-driven room,” Norma said of her business.

Tolani Collective is a colorful collection of scarves and tunics. Wholesale price points range from $29 to $49. Pink Rock is focused on specialty stores, while Pink Polka Dot is sold to department stores and is described as a denim-friendly line of tops and dresses. Price points are $49 wholesale.

Price points are a top concern at The Company Z Gene Zuckerman said. “We want to keep everything in the room under $100 retail. It is the key to success in department stores and boutiques,” he said.

The Company Z also wants to be known as a showroom where retailers help retailers. The showroom staff of three salespersons all managed boutiques before they switched to wholesale. “This showroom’s theme is that retailers come here and talk to people who understand their language,” he said.—Andrew Asch
