L.A. Fashion Week Spring 2011: ISM Mode
In the middle of the fashion party/carousal of Concept Fashion Week, ISM Mode designer Inka Sherman created a chic oasis where models wearing her vintage-inspired designs knit, played board games and gossiped, while photographers and fashion fans milled about.
Founded in Berlin, ISM Mode is now based in South Pasadena, Calif. For the Oct. 16 Concept installation at the Spring Arts Tower in downtown Los Angeles, Sherman showed softly sculpted pieces in a pretty pastel palette. Highlights included a striped jacket made more dynamic with the stripe set on the diagonal and a pair of sherbet-colored striped shorts. She also showed a sweet dress with a slight drape at the neckline and a high-waist skirt with suspenders that recalled a school-girl jumper.—Alison A. Nieder
