Obituary: Former Apparel News Editor Michael Belluomo, 64
Michael Belluomo, former editor of the California Apparel News and former owner of Sportswear International, died unexpectedly of cancer on Sept. 10. He was 64.
Belluomo served as executive editor of California Apparel News from 1980 to 1982. Prior to that he was the publication’s New York correspondent. After leaving California Apparel News, he served as editor, associate publisher and owner of Sportswear International and then launched MAPMedia Services, a fashion marketing and brand-development agency with a client list that included Antik Denim, Joe’s Jeans, Duarte Jeans and ENK International.
A veteran who served in Vietnam, Belluomo is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughters Grainne, Emma and Tallie; his father, Carl; brothers Robert and Carl; and sisters Debbie and Lilly and Carla Caputo. A memorial service for Belluomo was held on Sept. 14 in New York.
The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Military Family Association.—Alison A. Nieder
