Activant and Epicor to Merge
Apax Partners, an international private equity fund investment group, announced plans to purchase Activant Solutions Inc., a Livermore-based provider of ERP (enterprise resource planning) and POS (point-of-sale) software for mid-market retailers and distributors. In addition, Apax Partners also inked a deal to buy Epicor Software Corp., an Irvine-based enterprise business software maker. Apax plans to combine the two companies to become the quot;largest global providers of enterprise applications focused on the manufacturing, distribution, services and retail sectors.quot; Once the acquisitions are finalized, Activant and Epicor’s solutions will cover quot;the full spectrum of retailing—from small hardlines retailers to national specialty softgoods and apparel chains to global general merchandise department stores,quot; according to company releases.
