Surf Expo Announces Asian Expansion
Surf Expo, the East Coast action-sports trade show produced by GLM Shows/DMG Events, has announced that it will be debuting Action Sports Expo Asia in Singapore in April 2012.
The event, which will feature an estimated 300 booths at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center, will target manufacturers, distributors and retailers in the surf, skate, standup paddle, wake surfing and wind surfing industries. The show, which will allow public attendance, will be co-located with the Asia Dive Expo, a dive show that reportedly attracts more than 21,000 participants from 49 countries.
“The Asian Pacific sports business will exceed USD $17 billion in sales this year, and with this phenomenal growth, action sports has exploded in Southeast Asia,” said Roy Turner, GLM’s senior vice president, in a statement. “Already a host to the Asian X-Games, Mettle Games and, most recently, the Jr. Olympic Games, Singapore is within a seven-hour flight of the major markets of the region and, without the travel visa requirements of other countries in the region, is an extraordinarily open and welcoming marketplace.” —Erin Barajas
