Salt & Pepper Sales

Gerry Building, Suite 802(213) 892-0722saltandpepperapparel@msn.comBy hanging an ornate chandelier, Emmalena Bland put some of the final touches on the 2,015-square-foot showroom she moved into on Jan. 1.

Bland’s Salt & Pepper Sales had been located in the California Market Center since 1985, and a steady flow of her long-time clients have been dropping by to see her new place. Visitors have come from the Heart chain of boutiques, based in Seattle, and BB-One boutique, based in Palm Desert, Calif.

Bland calls the fashion lines she represents “crossover” collections, intended for women ages 35 and up. For Salt & Pepper’s first market in the Gerry Building, the showroom will have seven collections with wholesale price points ranging from $40 for some tops to $500 for some coats.

Salt & Pepper’s lines include San Francisco–based Karen Klein, a contemporary line that features some jersey looks; New Bedford, Mass.–based Moon Tide Dyers, an eco-line of bamboo garments with stylish dyes; Minneapolis-based accessories line Teresa Goodall; Weatherford, Texas–based knits line Georgina Estefania; Los Angeles–based linen line Mosaic; Turkish-made Unique Leather Studio, which features mesh and lace jackets complemented by leather; and German line Elemente Clemente.—Andrew Asch
