Young contemporary label Ladukh has been brand building in its native Australia since 1992 and has built a retail base of about 600 stores in Australia and New Zealand.

This year, the company set its sights on the American market.

After a soft launch at Coterie in New York and Project in Las Vegas, the company set down permanent stakes in the United States with a showroom in Los Angeles and representation in New York.

The company moved into its 800-square-foot showroom in the Cooper Design Space in early July. The airy loft-like space provides a clean backdrop for the collection, which is “super-feminine and girlie,” said Erica von Nessi, senior sales manager for North America.

With an average wholesale price of $39, Ladukh is aimed at the fast-fashion, trend-driven market. Ladukh produces out of its own factory in China and has a warehouse in Los Angeles for U.S. orders. “We can turn things around quickly,” von Nessi said.

The line is already carried by e-tailers Revolve and Nasty Gal, as well as bricks-and-mortar stores Planet Blue and Urban Outfitters. “There’s a focus on specialty stores,” von Nessi said.—Alison A. Nieder
