Los Angeles Fashion Week: Science & Numbers

Karyna Myres debuted her Science & Numbers collection on the runway March 12 at Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week at Ace Gallery. The show marks the designer’s entreacute;e into the contemporary arena. Formerly, Myres owned Harlette denim and the popular Celebutante children’s line. “I wanted to get back into doing contemporary because that’s where my heart was,” explained Myres. For her debut collection, she was inspired by the diverse nature of women—both feminine and hard.

“Everything we do is a science—keeping the balance, going to work. I think that’s what most women have to do these days. It was how I am feeling—it was an expression,” she said. The collection is geared to department stores with saleable pieces made in luxurious lambskin leather, silk and cashmere wool. Styles included sexy low-cut tanks and jumpsuits, easy dresses and rompers, and skin-tight leggings in an earthy palette of cream, gray, black and brown. Key items such as the ever-popular moto jacket and oversize cardigan added a casual but hip edge. —N. Jayne Seward
