Timberland Opens in S.F.'s Union Square

Outdoor footwear and apparel brand The Timberland Co. opened a store at the Westfield San Francisco Centre in San Francisco’s Union Square neighborhood.

The 2,300-square-foot space features reclaimed wood and industrial machinery, as well as recycled stoneware floor tiles, FSC-certified wood, reduced-wattage lighting, low volatile organic compound paints and water-conserving plumbing. The store also features a mural celebrating the Bay Area’s “green spaces,” according to the company.

In addition to the Stratham, N.H.–based company’s collection of apparel, footwear and accessories, the Timberland store will carry San Francisco–themed T-shirts, footwear and accessories, such as an eco “Zero Messenger” bag and iPad covers created by San Francisco’s Rickshaw Bags.

“As a brand rooted in the outdoors, we’re extremely excited to bring our authentic New England heritage to the West Coast,” said John Pazzani, Timberland’s vice president of retail and e-commerce, in a statement. “San Francisco is one of this country’s great outdoor gateway cities and—like our home base of New Hampshire—offers easy access to the mountains as well as the ocean.”—Alison A.
