Mannequins Don't Talk

So, many of our readers probably wonder what we do when we're off deadline.

Here at the California Apparel News, we are always cruising for story ideas. But sometimes we cruise past the freight elevators and discover treasures left behind by some of the departing tenants and showrooms at the California Market Center, where our offices are located.

Recently we stumbled upon a stash of mannequins that looked too good to toss away. So we rescued them from the garbage heap and gave them new life. Here are a few of our additions to the newsroom.

We call this the Snow White look

We've named our new temp Marcy. She never takes a break and
never asks for a raise. She is always there when you need her. Check
out her hairstyle. Perfect.

Ian Bramlett, head of Web Production, shakes hands with Retail Editor
Andrew Asch, demonstrating how you can be polite but still stay away
from germs during the flu season.

We wandered down the hall to the offices of Fashion Business Inc., the
non-profit apparel incubator and discovered we are not the only ones
with a mannequin in our office. Their mannequin, however, is done in
a much more creative style. Go figure.
