Summer Shopping on the Go

This summer, mobile shopping took off. And by mobile, I mean shopping by smart phone or tablet, not the kind of shopping you do on Royal Caribbean’s ginoromous Allure of the Seas, pictured above (1,187 feet long with maximum capacity of 6,296 passengers and 2,384 crew).

According to Dealnews, this summer, Americans shopped 38 percent more on their mobile devices—primarily by iPad. Dealnews saw record mobile traffic on the Fourth of July—up 43 percent over the previous three-week average—as consumers celebrated our nation’s independence by looking for bargains on electronics, gadgets, computers, apparel and other merchandise.

It wasn’t just Independence Day, either, mobile shopping increased this Memorial Day over last year, as well. Odds are good, the trend will continue for the upcoming Labor Day holiday, when many of us will have three days to get out there and shop.
