JCPenney Takes Another Retail Approach

Just in time for the back-to-school season, JCPenney on Sept. 1 is launching a set of shops within shops that will showcase some of the retailer's main brands.
First and foremost is the Liz Claiborne label, which will have its own space in 700 of JCPenney's stores. JCPenney bought the brand from Liz Claiborne Inc. for $267.5 million in 2011, and Liz Claiborne later changed its name to Fifth Pacific.
JCPenney will also debut its Izod and jcp shops, which is its own trademark brand for casual wear.

These three new shops join a slew of other shops within shops, such as Levi's, MNG by Mango and Sephora.
Hope this retail model works better than the permanent discounts JCPenney tried earlier this year and resulted in slumping sales.
