Directives West, Doneger Highlight Men’s Trends for Fall ’12

LAS VEGAS—Buyers, manufacturers and editors turned out early on Feb. 13 to catch the latest Fall menswear trends when The Doneger Group and Directives West hosted their “Young Men’s Fall 2012” fashion show, which kicked off the trade shows in Las Vegas.

Held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the fashion show gave an East Coast and West Coast perspective of key trends and looks for the season. According to Josh Gross and Ariel Kochbarski, market analysts from Directives West and The Doneger Group, the focus of the show was to give the viewpoint from both coasts with four key trends on the runway.

“Backwoods” and “Film Noir” highlighted looks with an East Coast flavor. Heritage and workwear inspiration continue to be strong while sophisticated dressy looks à la “Mad Men” are trending in jewel tones and luxe fabrics. The West Coast favors “Artisan” looks with a vintage flavor referencing grandpa’s closet and mixing the old and the new. And “Maximal” high-energy looks with bold color blocking and graphics are proving to be strong in the actions sports and streetwear markets.—N. Jayne Seward
