Judy and Jerry Wexler know their way around the California Market Center. Jerry Wexler has had showrooms in the building for 25 years, moving from the 12th floor to a recent stint on the eighth floor. When Judy Wexler worked in the swim side of the apparel industry, her office was on the CMC’s 13th floor, then the home of several swim showrooms.

The husband-and-wife sales team recently moved to the CMC’s second floor, where they’ve opened a new showroom showcasing Los Angeles–based young contemporary line Mystree. The Wexlers have been representing Mystree on the West Coast for more than three years and found their previous location on the eighth floor was not quite right for the brand, which, in recent seasons, has shifted from a juniors line to become a young contemporary collection.

“We didn’t belong up there [on the eighth floor],” Jerry Wexler said. Mystree’s customers range from their early 20s to late 50s with a youthful look but “not that juniors cut,” he added.

The new 880-square-foot Mystree showroom has warm orange walls and plenty of space to showcase the collection of sweaters, tops, jackets, skirts and dresses.

“It feels good here,” Judy Wexler said. The atmosphere is good. The other lines are complementary to our line. We have the same customer structure.”

Mystree is produced in China and shipped from Los Angeles. Wholesale prices range from the middle $20s to the low $40s, Jerry Wexler said. The collection sells to Fred Segal Melrose in Los Angeles; UKO in San Francisco; Morning Glory in Burlingame, Calif.; Mo, Jo and Zoe in Truckee, Calif.; and PB & J in Chico, Calif.
For the June 11–14 run of Los Angeles Fashion Market, the Wexlers are also showing Mystree at Focus, the trade show in the CMC’s 13th-floor penthouse pavilion. The two have been showing at Focus since it first launched in 2007.—Alison A. Nieder
