Need a Lift?

Eco-friendly athletic shoe company The People’s Movement (a.k.a. Movmt) has a new shoe designed to give you a little extra height without letting the world know you’re wearing lifts.

“The Jade” is a sneaker style with a hidden 2-inch wedge inside and an sustainable message through and through. Made with waxed organic cotton canvas, organic cotton laces, nickel-free eyelets and water-based glue, the style has a faux coyote fur lining, too.

The super-cute classic girls' high-top style is, sadly, for girls only (at least for now). It comes in the above fabrications, as well as an understated white/beige combo and a sharp navy/white style with an innovative "upcycled," recycled plastic material.

Solano Beach, Calif.–based Movmt’s motto is “Look Good, Feel Good, Do Good” and founders Kevin Flanagan, Mark Wystrach and Chris Swortwood are making their motto their mission. Sales of the company’s Clean Act collection raises funds for the Plastic Pollution Coalition, which was founded to eradicate plastic pollution. $1 from the sale of every pair of shoes is donated to the cause.

Movmt incorporates its plastic message into the material for some of the shoes in the Clean Act collection. The show line has partnered with an organization called Bombastix Plastix, which collects plastic bags in Bali, where Movmt shoes are made, washes and “upcycles” them into a material used for several Movmt styles.

The limited-edition “Flanny Bombastic Mastic” has a hand-made upper in the material, which gives the classic high-top shoe a cool faded denim look.
