Surfing Your Style With Calavera

For many shoppers, the hassle of finding a suit that fits – let alone one made for shredding waves in rough waters – can be enough to put them off swimsuit shopping all together, but Calvera Swimwear has taken an innovative approach to tackling the problem.

The sporty brand debuted its new “Surf This” function on its website today.

Using technology and their team of pro-surfers, they created videos that show shoppers exactly what their suit will look like in action. After choosing their suit style, users click on the “Surf This” link, where an on-screen video appears showing one of Calavera’s pro-surfers riding the waves in the user’s chosen bikini combo.

In addition to inspiring viewers to get their board out, the new technology provides consumers the opportunity to see what the suit looks like during movement.

“The ’Surf This’ function enables our consumers to see the bikinis in action, resisting the tug of the waves and staying put through the rigors of surfing,” Anna Jerstrom, Calavera’s founder said. “We put in a lot of hard work, and a few wipe-outs, to make sure we provided an advancement that would benefit our fellow Calavera girls. We want to make it easier for them to be confident in their purchases.”

Calavera Swimwear was started by Jerstrom, a Swedish investment banker turned surfer and swimwear designer, who wanted to create a line of performance swimwear that could handle rigorous environments and “stay put” through tough conditions. According to the company, the line is “built for riding Kauai's curls, beachside yoga in Bali, sunning in Santorini and everything in between.”
