Fashion Group International-L.A. Presents ’Meet the Designer and Muse’

Los Angeles’ fashion industry stepped out on March 8 to celebrate Fashion Group International’s “Meet the Designer and the Muse” fund-raiser. Models, muses and fashion lovers filled Ace Gallery to take in the designers’ creations and their inspirations, followed by a live performance by L.A. band Annie Trousseau.

Jenny Han, Adrienne Maloof, Sue Wong and Lauren Elaine were some of the designers who turned out for the event.

Han chose actress Jamie Chung of “The Hangover Part II” as her muse, calling her a “downtown-to-uptown girl.”
“She’s feminine with an edge,” Han said.

Chung was sporting Han’s floral crepe de chine “Tiger Lily” dress with a hi-lo hem.

“Access Hollywood’’ host Shaun Robinson was footwear designer Adrienne Maloof’s muse, inspiring Maloof to name a sleek, sparkling platform stiletto after Robinson.

“I was looking at her line, and I just fell in love with it,” Robinson said. “It’s so comfortable, and it makes your foot look smaller.”

The cocktail party celebrated the relationship between designers and their muses while also raising funds for Fashion Group International’s foundation, which provides scholarships to fashion students in Southern California.

Nicholas Bowes of NBC’s new reality series “Fashion Star,” Max Ryan of “Sex and the City 2” and “The Hunger Games” actress Tara Macken were also there to support the cause.

“It’s a great opportunity to support younger designers,” said Ryan, who mentioned he didn’t know whether or not there would be a “Sex and the City 3” when asked about the possibility of a sequel. “I hope they do it. I think the fans really appreciate what Michael [Patrick King] and the girls do.”

Designer Kevan Hall was at the event to “support all the young talent” and debut his charcoal gray, sequined column gown on his muse, actress Vanessa Williams. Hall said he has been dressing the star for red-carpet events for about 10 years.

One of the most innovative creations of the night was a backless stretch-denim dress adorned with chicken wire, created by Midwest designer JLynn Hausmann of JHaus premium denim.
